Sunshine Structures Awarded Design/Build Contractfor the Mosaic Florida Operations Center

LITHIA, Fla. (6/18/09) – Ryan Companies US, Inc. has awarded Sunshine Structures a design-build contract to provide the structural design and shell construction for Mosaic’s new Florida Operations Center located at 13841 Fishhawk Blvd., Lithia, FL.

The Mosaic Company is one of the world’s leading producers and marketers of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients.  The design goals of the building were to create a high-performing, sustainable facility which strongly reflects Mosaic’s brand and culture, and to do so cost effectively.  One of the unique sustainable design features of the building is the high reflectivity, low heat-gain glazing which maintains low heat loads on the mechanical system, and decreases utility demand.

Sunshine will provide all cast-in-place concrete, steel-reinforced tilt-walls and structural steel systems for this four-story, 113,600 SF building.  Sunshine Structures and their engineering partner, LJB Inc., worked with Ryan Companies in the design of this CON/STEEL Tilt Systems building which features tilt-panels in excess of 196,000 lbs. that exceed 64 feet in height.

Rorie Wilson is the project executive for Sunshine Structures, Noah Schnell the Project Manager and Jordan Whitney is the superintendent.  Brian Smith is the Senior Project Manager for Ryan Companies and Joe Gray is their project manager.  Sunshine started construction in April and is scheduled for completion in August.
